Good morning or guten Morgen as they would say in Berlin...or in Liepzig :))
Today, we're gonna take a quick look at....yup, it's still about cases... about one in particular to be honest. But before we'll continue with cases, some new words that might be helpful
Das Ende des Films ist spannend.

Some small portion of vocabulary before we start with the grammar :

Today, as I've already mentioned, we're gonna take a closer look at nominative and genitive cases and the definite article in them. But, to be honest nominative is not really a case... I mean, it is, of course , first out of four , but the truth is you don't have to learn those stupid poems or do any other "tricky" things to remember nominative. Because it uses the basic articles that come with the nouns, and what it does is just simply answering "who" or "what". In other words , it refers to and is used for the subject of the sentence by bluntly typing "who" or "what" that subject is.
So, for example the sentence :
- "Der Film ist interessant" (The movie is interesting)
doesn't require you to think of some complicated structures figuring out how to change the "basic" article der. Simply use der, and move on to the next example ;)
But...it would be too easy if we would just stop at nominative, right ? :) so, there goes our next case called - genitive ...but no worries as this is the only one we will be working on today. Just genitive :)
Here it is :
This case, the genitive, often indicates who or what someone or something belongs to :
Das Buch ist interessant.
Der Titel des Buches ist interessant.
The book is interesting.
The title of the book is interesting.
Please don't try to remember everything at once, just ..keep calm and read the following exercises to practice that stuff :
Please fill in the gaps :
Exercise 1/3

and the answers are :
now a bit harder :
Exercise 2/3

the answers will be :
Exercise 3/3
These are to be translated :
...

...
and of course the german version of these sentences would be :
I know that these cases are not the most pleasant stuff when it comes to grammar, but still, if you start slowly and don't force yourself too much, you'll get through it :)
As usual , a quote (somehow related to the learning process) to statr your Tuesday :
Don't torture yourself, darling. Leave that to me.
- Filmzitate/Movie Quotes: Addams Family
So yeah, don't torture yourself, keep calm , stay tuned and stay germanizzzzzed.
Cheers,
Bryvus
