Lesson 9 - the conjugation system

Good morning to you!!! This morning as no other mornings made me realize how addicted to German I became...because in search for a teaspoon while making my coffee, when taking a shower, and brushing my teeth all I could think about was my blog and what's next topic in it :)

And as usual, some vocabulary before we will go on with the grammar exercises : 

Brot & Butter, Lukas, Hanna, Honig.. ? what is it all about ? Below you'll find a short explanation of the German conjugation system.

As in english, there also three persons.
1) The first person is the person speaking or writting :  

singular : ich  ( I )
plural     : wir  ( we )

2) The second person is the person spoken or written to. 
singular : du  (you)
plural     : ihr  (you)

3) The third person is the person or thing spoken or written about. 

singular :  er  (he)

               sie (she)
                    es   (it)

       

plural   :  sie  (they)

Numbers and persons form six positions of the conjucation system : 

- 1st person singular

- 2nd person singular

- 3rd person singular

- 1st person plural
- 2nd person plural
- 3rd person plural

Remember that  :

Rom ist auch nicht an einem Tag erbaut worden.
(Rome wasn't built in a day)

 On the contrary, it was built inch by inch, step by step..till it was finished (a bit of Al Pacino's style here)))

So make your steps, put the valuable bricks of "grammar" , "vocabulary" and "practical merging into the language" next to each other, and slowly but surely your foundation will be built.
